U16s Match Reports > Sun 14th Nov Cwmbran U16's(22) vs Pentyrch(0)

Cwmbran 16s travelled to Pentyrch on a day that conditions were alright for a flowing game of rugby. The game started off pretty well, with mistakes made by both teams which seemed to slow the pace of the game down. As most of the games Cwmbran have played this year, the pack was once again dominated the scrums throughout the match with the front row of David Powell, Daniel Cooke and Garin Harris putting in a huge effort. Cwmbran opened the scoring through good hands in the backs for Kurt Mason to go over for a try. After some good forward play, Elliot Short made a break of the back of a ruck which resulted in him scoring a try after a few missed tackles by the home side. Cwmbran’s third try of the half was scored by Jordan Peake after a long kick down field and the home side full back not controlling the ball, the ball was kicked on by Jordan and it was a foot race to try line which resulted in the try, Halftime score was 15 – 0. The second half Cwmbran started how they finished the first half with hands across the back line which resulted in Iestyn Evans running half of the pitch to score a solo effort try which was converted by Elliot Short. Cwmbran were looking to finish the game on a high, but were credit is due Pentyrch started to mount pressure on Cwmbran for the last 25 minutes of the game but Cwmbran were lucky to stop Pentyrch from scoring, the final score was Cwmbran 22 Pentyrch 0. We would like to thank Pentyrch for their hospitality before and after the game & will look forwarding to playing them in the New Year.
