Cwmbran U9s travelled to Tredegar on a cold icy morning. The game was played between two evenly matched sides and entertaining to watch for all supporters. Cwmbran were led by captain Connor Bollen and unfortunately Cwmbran lost Will Reed, as he was taken ill just as play started. Cwmbran opened the scoring through Lewis Bates who made a timely interception to run three quarters of the pitch to score unopposed. Tredegar hit back with a well worked try with some good hands from the backs. The game was flowing back and for with both sides making some simple errors but this was to due the cold weather. Cwmbran hit back with another try just before halftime, Lewis Bates made a strong run down the touchline were he could of scored but the gave the pass to Thomas Alcock to score the try. Second half Tredegar started the stronger with them scoring their second try of the game, Cwmbran hit back straight away from the kick off with Lewis Bates catching the ball on his own try line and he ran the full length of the pitch to score his second try with a Shane Williams dive to finish off. Cwmbran scored their fourth try after Lewis made another strong run and he passed the ball to Daniel Corken to score his first try of the season. Tredegar No.15 hit back with two individual tries to tie the game at 4 – 4. Good game played by both sides.
