This Webb Ellis cup game between Cwmbran and Ystrad Rhondda finally took place after 3 previous postponements for varying reasons. Both sides gave a good account of themselves in most areas of play with the committment level very high. The visiting Ystrad Rhondda team looked to have the edge behind and playing down the Kings Head slope first half ran in 2 unconverted tries. Two missed penalties by the Crows during that half proved to be very costly.
Cwmbran fullback Mike Davies was having a fine game for Cwmbran in attack and defence and it was a blow when he left the field injured. Ystrad ran in for a further brace of tries second half, one of which was converted. Cwmbran will have little time to 'lick their wounds' after this defeat as they play Brynmawr at home this Wednesday in the youth District cup.
