Overview
- Fancy doing your learning on the job, gaining valuable skills and experience and getting paid a training allowance or a wage while you do it?
- Then think about work-based training with a local or national company on an apprenticeship or training programme working towards an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification).
- NVQs show you have the skills to do a certain job, for example shop work, building, care and office work.
- You will either do your training directly on the job or attend college or a training centre on a part time basis.
- 16 -17 year olds not in education or employment are guaranteed a training place.
- Depending on your circumstances, training places are also available for 18 -24 year olds.
- Availability of placements in certain jobs may vary depending on the area you live.
- All training and apprenticeship programmes also include key skills linked to that qualification.
- Careers Wales provides a vacancy service for 16-19 year olds looking for training/apprenticeships.
